The following e-mail was received from Oakwood Restoration Committee Member Mike Pullen on April 6, 2011:
Gentlemen, There was a meeting on Tuesday April 5, 2011 between Senator Jim Webb and Acting Under Secretary for Memorial Affairs Steve Muro, as reported by Oakwood Chairman Lee Hart. After the meeting it is very apparent that the rules and regulations for Headstone placement is not the issue, but instead this refusal for Confederate markers is apparently a purely discriminatory act against all Confederate markers. Senator Webb's office remains strong in this support for Honoring Confederate Veterans. There are future meetings planned and Chairman Lee Hart will share the results. Respectfully submitted,
