Members of the Virginia Division Sons of Confederate Veterans,

I hope you and your family are doing well.

As you know the 2010 Virginia Division SCV convention will be held in Lynchburg on April 9-11, 2010 at the Holiday Inn Select. We the members of the Garland-Rodes and Campbell Guards camps, are very honored to host this convention. We have worked very hard over the past year to get everything together and hopefully after you leave, you will be very pleased with our effort to make this convention a memorable one. Also if you would like to bring your camp flag w/ pole and stand, please feel free to do so. All camp flags will be posted in the main meeting room.

Friday we will open registration @ 3pm, the Commander's Reception will follow after the D.E.C. meeting, in the Hospitality Room # 823. There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres, period music and door prizes will also be selected during the day on Saturday. Door prizes will consist of such items as: books, prints, caps, t-shirts, and many others.

There will be a silent auction starting on Friday evening at 3pm with bids being taken until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Winners will be announced at the end of the General Session II. The silent auction will consist of wonderful items such as, a Troiani print, Kepi, passes to the Friends of the Hunley Museum, in SC., CD sets by Bobby Horton, to name a few.

The registration will re-open Saturday morning at 6am before General Sessions I & II. After the banquet we have scheduled Mr. Stan Clardy, of Statesville, NC. to present a special program.

The General Long OCR Chapter will be in charge of the tours to some of the historic areas within the City of Lynchburg (Historic Sandusky, Old City Cemetery). On the registration forms, there will be a separate form for the ladies to fill out who are interested in the tours. This will need to be mailed separately to the President of the OCR, Mrs. Diane Grimes.

This convention will be an election year, and on behalf of the members of both of our camps, we would like to thank the outgoing D.E.C. for your hard work and a job well done, and we would like to welcome in the new incoming D.E.C.
