Virginia Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans
Compatriots,
It is with a heavy heart that I must inform you of the passing of Robert C.
“Bob” Moates,
Commander, Charlotte County Gray’s, Camp 1964. Bob answered his last Roll
Call this morning at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, VA.
Commander Moates is well known throughout our fine organization, not only
for his leadership roll in various camps in the Richmond area, but also as
the Charlotte County Gray’s leader from its beginning, as well as for his
portraying General Robert E. Lee at any number of Ceremonies. He was also
active in living history at area schools and events. Bob will also be
remembered as a re-enactor of General Lee on his horse “Traveler” from
Gettysburg to Richmond. He was also a life member of the SCV.
Please keep Bob’s wife, Gracie, and his family in your prayers.
Bob requested before his death that all Sons and Daughters dress in their
uniforms and period dresses when attending his viewing and memorial service.
Internment will be after the memorial service at Hollywood Cemetery. MEN
