I am saddened to report that Commander Raymond Sayers, Stuart-Hairston
Camp #515, crossed over the river this morning. His daughter-in-law,
Peggy Sayers, sent us this information about the funeral arrangements
for Cmdr. Sayers. Cmdr. Sayers will be greatly missed. I hope that some
of you are able to attend his funeral. Please keep the family in your
prayers during this difficult time.

John Sawyer, Commander

Hi. I am Peggy Sayers, Commander Raymond Sayers' daughter-in-law. It is
with a saddened, heavy heart to inform all of you that Commander Sayers
went home to be with Jesus this morning.

As you all are aware, he has been very sick lately and his heart has
been struggling to keep beating as it should. Around 5:30 this morning,
Commander Sayers suffered from a massive heart attack followed by
cardiac arrest. His immediate family was surrounding him at his
bedside in prayer and lifting him up to our Father as he passed.

Visitation will be held on Thurs. May 7, 2009 from 7pm to 8:30pm, and
the funeral service will be held on Fri. May 8, 2009 at 2pm. Both
services will be held at Community Funeral Services (formally known as
Tomlinson's Funeral Home) at 109 Fontaine Dr., Martinsville, VA (turn at
the stoplight at Suntrust Bank, south of KMart on 220S.) The funeral
home's phone number is (276)632-5466. The burial will immediately follow
the funeral service at the Mountain View Cemetery, 711 Church St.,
Ridgeway, VA.

But as his daughter-in-law, I ask you to keep his family in your prayers
through this very difficult time.

If you should have any questions or concerns regarding the
Stuart-Hairston Camp, please contact Daniel Young at (276)629-7355 or
Allen "Thumper" Frazier at (276)638-8849, until further notice.

Thank you all in advance for all of your support and prayers for
Commander Sayers, his family, and his Confederate family as well.
