We just received this update on the Virginia State Fair. If your camp is
able to send one or two members to help man the SCV booth at the Fair,
please contact Rob Millikin at va-rebel at comcast.net
<mailto:va-rebel at comcast.net> to let him know which of the available
dates you will be able to cover. I would like to express my gratitude
to the camps that have already signed up to help with the SCV booth at
the Fair and for those who plan to sign up for the remaining days. It is
our chance to share our heritage with others, answer questions, and
increase the SCV membership. Your dedication and love of your
Confederate Heritage is greatly appreciated.
John Sawyer, Commander
Virginia Division SCV

4 days left to cover!!!
We are getting close, please make a plead to your members to help with
this important event.
The State Fair is one of the largest recruiting and funding raising
event of the year for the Division, it's success or failure is up to the
Compatriots of the Virginia Division.

UPDATE SO FAR IN BLUE
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Virginia Division , SCV is once again sponsoring a booth at the
upcoming State Fair of Virginia.
The Virginia State Fair will be September 24, 2009 to October 4, 2009 at
Meadow Event Park. This is near Kings Dominion, Exit 98 off I-95 in
Doswell.
We need a Camp to man the booth each day of the Fair to receive
donations from the public and hand out Division items, do recruiting and
distribute recruiting information , handout stickers, talk to the
public, etc. Each Camp ideally needs 4 to 6 men to volunteer to man
the booth. We need two to three men to work the first half of the day
and two to three men to work the last half of the day. Please contact
your Camp members and ask if anyone wants to volunteer.
Camp members need to be at the Fair 30 minutes before and after the
operating hours of the Fair to set-up and pack up.
All dates are open .
I need a person (doesn't have to be a Compatriot) who can assist me in
the evening on every other day to close the booth for the evening.
This would include taking the money less "start-up" money, covering the
tables with table clothes, etc.
This member would receive a parking pass and admission pass for the
whole event time.
Do you have a member that can do this?? If a member does not come
forward to help, then what that will mean is that each Camp will have
to close the booth down with only written instructions to go by.
Also, on the nights that I don't come up then the Camp would be
responsible for counting and depositing the money collected that day.
In past years when we have tried this, it has not worked. So, I am
really hoping that someone will come forward to help.
I already have a Compatriot that can open the booth each day and give
instructions to the 1st shift.
This event is the Division's largest Heritage Defense Fund money raiser
and recruiting event. It's a lot of fun and rewarding to man the booth,
the public really does support our Cause.
Thank-you,
Rob Millikin
